Ramsbury FC Manager El Tel Seano Eviil not long back from his scouting trip to Spain actually made this match and was very relieved that Ramsbury were able to progress in the Cup after a 4-2 penalty shoot out against Swindon Rovers FC (First).
El Tel Seano commented that it was a tough match with lots of drama that you would expect from a Cup match, but the job got done!
There were some stand out performances with Adam E having a cracking game with a fantastic defensive display and a goal from Aaron P that was looking likely to be all that was needed in a closely fought match to win 1-0.
But Shirt of Shame awardee Andy D gave a away a foul in the dying minutes of the match to give Swindon Rovers a penalty and equalise to see the match go to penalties! It was very unlike Andy D as he is usually very solid, but Shirt of Shame for this week is all his nonetheless.
The penalties were all good apart from Max D who didn’t get the memo that it wasn’t a cross bar challenge with Jase, Aaron Andy D and Skip all scoring with Skip getting the deciding penalty to see Ramsbury go through to the next round with a 4-2 win.
Goalkeeper Ash T was the hero of the match with a fine penalty save and which earned him the man of the match award – good effort Ash!
Up next is another cup match against Div 1 side AFC Harrow who are no mugs and it will need a strong squad and good home performance to get another win.
Great stuff by the Blue and Whites and the squad have really started to produce some great results! Keep it up.
