Ramsbury FC win 6-3 against DM FC in dominant display after coming from behind twice!

Team: Ash(GK), Jonah, Adam, Chris (C), Uni, Skips, Charlie, Rob, Ali, Goody, Jas. Subs; Joe, Oscar, Zac, Harry. Formation: 4-4-2

The first half saw 6 goals and it could have been more as both teams went on full attack mode and both teams went close to scoring more. The weather, pitch and ref were all decent and served up a lively first half with plenty of goals. Ramsbury had eleven on the pitch but there was only one scorer as Jas, like the fat kid Augustus Gloop in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, was in no mood for sharing and like a proper goal glutton bagged all 4 of the goals!

Jas is, without doubt, a cracking no9 and is a no non sense, direct and aggressive centre forward that most defenders hate to defend against….in your space, in your face and he scores for fun! He also has two good feet, is good in the air and is surprisingly quick and this all contributed to him scoring all 4 goals in the first half and overall deservedly being awarded man of match!

DM FC did their best to make it an entertaining match and went 1-0 and 2-1 up to put pressure on Ramsbury FC, but these days Ramsbury do not panic and keep their shape, stick to the plan of pressing and passing and getting the ball to the two target men up front in a 4-4-2 formation. It worked a treat today as Ramsbury were very much the sharper team.

However, it was not all Jas as he was ably assisted with his partner in crime up front as Goody held up the ball really well, harassed the DMFC defence and set up two goals for Jas as the two forwards combined really well. Jas also benefitted by superb assists by both Ali and Skips in midfield who both played superbly. Importantly, Brizz playing in the CDM role along side Skips was key in breaking up play and winning second balls and providing excellent cover to the Defence. The back 4 were excellent again and even after Charlie sustained a nasty knee injury and had to go off, Sean brought on Harry L at left back who slotted in seamlessly as if he had never been away. Great to have you back Harry…although your foul throw did get you the shirt of shame from Sean……but you wouldn’t expect anything less….would you?

The first half ended 4-2 to Ramsbury who were firmly on top and it wasn’t a matter of would they score again in the second half, but rather how many they would score?

The second half saw more of the same as Goody and Jas made it very difficult for the DM FC defence and were supported high up the pitch by Rob and Ali on the flanks. If it wasn’t for some very dodgy opposition linesman (who had little grasp of what offside actually meant), a very benevolent ref ad some outstanding saves by the opposition keeper, the score could have been so much more as Ramsbury hit the cross bar and the post and could have scored at 2-3 more goals!

Zac, Oscar and Joe all game on in the second half and Zac got two excellent assists for both Ali and Jonah as Ramsbury threatened to run away with the game as the midfield and defence countered all the quick breaks and broke up play brilliantly with Brizz and Skips both putting in proper shifts. With the score at 6-2 and about 10 minutes left the game was all but won as Ramsbury kept up the pressure and kept DM FC on the back foot.

DM FC did score to make it 6-3 with a Ramsbury error that saw the ball given away cheaply and DMFC capitalise with a decent effort that gave Ash no chance. Zac should have cancelled the goal out as Joe mad a brilliant run down the wing and skinned the right back and placed an inch perfect pass to Zac who should have scored. But he took too long and the DMFC keeper made yet another outstanding save to keep it at 6-3 and see the match end 6-3 to Ramsbury and secure all 3 points.

A great win by Ramsbury FC who have two wins under their belt now against decent sides. There are some more tough games to come, but the squad is strong and has momentum and just needs to keep their fine form going.

A top performance today by a great bunch of lads!
