A long awaited return to grass roots football saw Ramsbury FC U16s record a comprehensive 3-0 away win over a dogged and determined Derry Hill FC U16s side at the Beaverbrook Academy in Calne. Joe captained the side and Noah was in goal for the whole match as Ben P was unwell and both did a sterling job. Get well soon Ben and hopefully you will be back to help Noah out in the next game!

Match Report by Geoff:

Great to be back in league action today, and staring where we left off in the league with a win, and still not conceding a goal! As matches go the first half was a tough watch with us being the better side but not clicking into gear and moves breaking down in the final third, but saying this I can’t fault the effort and we just needed to relax a bit more and get our head up to see the options. Derry Hill FC U16s did have a few chances with Noah making a great save and Seb with a great goal saving tackle, but we did create with Fred, George, Liam and Euan going close. The breakthrough came from a corner with Byron putting in a great corner curling towards the goal caused a defensive error with the ball deflecting in, 1-0 Ramsbury. Rather than this being the catalyst to relax and start playing the quality of football I know we can play, we rushed our play , thinking that the floodgates would open. Half time we made a couple more changes, and started brightly, pressing higher and winning the ball back quicker, and from another corner doubled our lead with another great delivery from Byron, Keiran rising to powerfully head in a good goal. With a few poor referee decisions raising our players temperatures, with a blatant penalty not given, also their goalkeepers antics and verbal winding up, put a little bit more bite into our tackling. We created lots more chances but it just wouldn’t go in , Liam with a great long range effort hitting the crossbar and bouncing back into the keepers arms. We finally added a third with Liam grabbing it 3-0. It looked like we might go on a get a couple more but for the ref blowing the final whistle on 34minutes🤷.

Man of the match went to Joe for great leadership as Captain at the heart of midfield and linking the team together. Closely followed by Byron and Kieran for the award. Moment of the match goes to Liam for his great closing down challenge on their keeper, much to the approval of all his teammates. As always thanks for the parent’s great support.

See you all at training and then on to Chippenham next Sunday.
